Free High Fives, Just In Case Hugs Scare You

High Fives

As you probably know, Swift Kick enjoys the #FreeHugs movement. A lot.

Sometimes, though, we run across people who do not enjoy the whole hugging thing, and we get it. Not everyone is a hugger. Anyone who participated in #FreeHugs Day knows that. So when we came across this Improv Everywhere video, we knew we had to share.

If that didn’t put the goofiest smile on your face, we don’t know what will. There’s a few important things to note about this High Five Escalator.

  1. Rob made everyone’s day. You can see how miserable everyone looked going up that escalator, probably exhausted. But then look at their faces after they realized what was happening. Definitely a “meh to hmm” moment. These people are highly amused. Success!
  2. He kept the energy up the whole time. Rob made sure everyone who high fived him got some sort of verbal appreciation. He was excited, and he wants everyone else to be excited too!
  3. This blender event took very little effort to set up. They just needed a few signs and a few people willing to stand on a staircase. Oh, and a cool dude who likes  giving high fives.
  4. They took care not to create any negative trade-offs. The Improv Everywhere agents made sure to leave plenty of room on the staircase for the people who took the stairs. They never forced anyone to participate in high fiving. They were all about good vibes without being annoying. It’s about understanding your surroundings; not everyone can stop during their commute.
