In the Race

Sooo close. That’s the theme this week. We see the finish line and it’s T-minus 2 weeks or so until we release Red Rover**. It needs a little polish on the user interface and some touch ups to the design and that’s it, we’ll be done with version 1.0!

When Red Rover is finished, it will be the first major tool released that integrates the world of social networking, like Facebook and Myspace, and the mission of a university to help increase engagement on campuses.

We started thinking of Red Rover about a year ago and it’s been in full development for 4 months. The past month has been the real sprint. Late nights, early mornings, and lots of tapping away on our keyboards. All in hopes of being the first ones to cross the finish line.

There’s a funny twist to this race. We know we are going to cross the line, but what we don’t know is where everyone else is in the race. Are they ahead of us ready to launch next week? Are they behind us planning to launch in a year? Are they even in the race at all? Maybe we are racing alone.

In reading the blogs around us there is plenty of good talk on the topic, but no one seems to be in development like we are, or so it seems. Maybe someone is waiting to release before they start talking. Either way, the race goes on and we are sprinting to the end.
