Meeting and Kickin’ Butt with Matt and Nicole

Meeting and Kickin

So as we teased in our last blog post, our company retreat was pretty epic last Wednesday. Quarterly retreats are always a blast because we get to know our team, as well as planning the entire rest of the quarter. It’s both productive and fun!

We started the day with some “juice shots” with ingredients like ginger and cumin. Those woke us up if the coffee hadn’t! Talk about Feeding Your Butterflies.

Then we went over the company overview so that Matt and Nicole could learn what Swift Kick is all about. Sabina took this as an opportunity to illustrate the concepts with props – from a mini shopping cart to hats and name tags. It got a little strange, but also hilarious.

Then, we moved to the big conference room that houses a WHITE BOARD WALL, and got to strategizing. We chose our theme for the quarter – Cue the Performers, which means getting our new members ready to bring their skills to the table. Then, we chose our projects for the quarter.

We took a break for lunch by ordering some delicious sandwiches and talking about our families. Lots of laughs were shared. Then, after lunch, we did a fun activity about our company values. You can read more about that in our last blog post.

After lunch, we got back down to business, mapped out all our projects and chose the metrics we want to hit this quarter. We ended the business part of the day feeling very productive, and full of new information.

Tom then mysteriously brought us to Chinatown for dinner, and we ended up at a Mexican Speakeasy called Pulquieria, where it was so dark, Tom had to read the menu with a candle! The tacos we ordered were muy delicioso!

featureAfter dinner, we walked to a fancy-shmancy crepe place called SpiceBox where we all got specialty crepe desserts. We were amazed to find them playing the same song over and over and over. I think it’s stuck in our heads forever now. Those crepes were the best.dessert.ever.

Finally, we headed over to the secret “Merrymaking” activity to end our team building day – Escape the Room! We had one hour to get all the clues and find the key to unlock the door. We did it in 45 minutes -now THAT’S teamwork!

We are so excited to rock this quarter, after such a great start.
