Student Leadership

WE CREATE A CULTURE OF CONNECTION™ ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES THAT ULTIMATELY LEADS TO INCREASED STUDENT ENGAGEMENT, RETENTION, AND PRODUCTIVITY.

Have You Checked Your Student Leadership Checklist?

Of course, you need your backpack, your pens and pencils, any notebooks and folders for the day, but did you make sure you’re bringing your leadership?

This might be an odd question to ask. What does bring your leadership even mean? As a student leader, you have a responsibility to best support your club, staff, or department every single day. (It can be exhausting, we know). Here are some checklist items you want to make sure you have before you walk out the door each day.

  • An Open Mind: It’s important to always be as accepting and inclusive as possible when we’re talking about good leadership.
  • A Good Attitude: Your attitude is reflected in your peers. If you walk into a meeting with a sour mood while you’re dragging your feet, expect the same from your fellow students.
  • Determination: Often times, we are told no. We have these big ideas and dreams of programming that might not be approved at first. Keep at it. Keep working hard. You are capable of more than you realize.
  • Selflessness: WE’RE HERE FOR THE STUDENTS! Sometimes we need that reminder when we get so caught up in life itself.
  • Patience: It’s a process. Demonstrate patience with others when working as a member of a team. You would want to be afforded the same.
  • Gratitude: Do your best to remember what you’re grateful for. We have mentors and leaders who have taught us so much. Serve others and give back to the students who have made a difference in your life.
