A Bar-tender and Theater Lover – Meet Our New Interns, Matt and Nicole

The Swift Kick team is very excited to welcome its two newest interns, Matt Selba and Nicole Wood! Here is a little bit about them to introduce them to the whole community.

Matt is a senior at the University of Delaware majoring in statistics. He is crazy involved on and off campus through his school’s Blue Hen Leadership Program, and he hopes to eventually become an actuarial consultant and college professor.

We asked Matt for some epic fun facts and here’s what he said:

1. I am one of eleven children in my family. That’s right ELEVEN. I am the second youngest, being the youngest of all of my brothers. I always share this one in any class or roundtable discussion because it has made me a huge part of who I am today.
2. I started bar tending at the age of 18 years old, down in Ocean City, MD. While I don’t have any desire to stay in the restaurant and hospitality industry, I think becoming a bartender at such a young age opened my eyes (and ears) to a lot of different people at a critical stage in my life. My experiences while bar tending helped me realize that everyone has a story, and that sometimes all you have to do is ask, “What’s your story?” to make a great friend.
3. I love hitting the beach! Running through the warm sand to find a spot near the water… setting up an umbrella and chair like you’re moving into a new house… going to check if the waters cool and if the waves are big… getting tumbled by the waves later on your body board… smelling like salt water… throwing around the football… listening to the radio while relaxing… and grabbing a nice tan by the end of the day. I am very lucky to have moved near the beach in high school, and I appreciate every second I get to go during the summer while I’m back home.

Nicole is a junior at the New York Institute of Technology, where she is studying communication arts. As an orientation leader and peer advisor, she gets to serve as a role model for new students and help make their experiences all they can be.

We also asked her for some epic fun facts, and here’s what she said:

1) In my first year of college, I managed to work my way in to see over 12 Broadway shows for little to no money by making friends with people that worked there.
2) I started an after school theater program for middle schoolers my junior year of high school.
3) I was the first person from Maine to ever attend my college

These cool people will get their hands in almost every aspect of Swift Kick, and they’ll also get a chance to work with a true one-of-a-kind company. Welcome to the team, y’all!
