I can’t believe it’s already been six months since my first day at Swift Kick. I’m not sure what I’ll miss most, but I know my life won’t be the same without the daily meetings and top rocks.
From the beginning, I told Tom that I didn’t have many expectations going into it because I wanted to be open to everything that came my way. This led to me asking Tom and Sabina a lot of questions, but it also led to me figuring out a lot on my own, even with things I didn’t know anything about at the start.
Internships give people the opportunity to gain experience and learn skills that will help them in their future careers. At Swift Kick I learned more than I ever thought I could. One of my biggest projects involved HTML, something I had virtually no experience with, but by the end of the project, I was so proud of the work I had done. Working with things I knew nothing about was pretty common here. I moderated my first Twitter chat, I got super familiar with infographics, and I did more research on picture-posting apps than I’ve ever done for school. But because the team has trusted me to work through things on my own, I have learned and accomplished so much.
Tom, I can’t even begin to thank you for everything you’ve taught me. You gave me so many opportunities to learn and grow, and I hope the next interns appreciate how lucky they are to learn from someone like you.
Sabina, I am so glad I got to have this experience alongside another Ram. Our constant Fordham talk may have driven Tom to his tent a few times, but I like to think it helped us become more like friends than coworkers.
They say hindsight is 20/20. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I started at Swift Kick, and I made some mistakes here and there, but now I see that every task and meeting has helped me get the most out of this experience. I don’t think I’ll get to work with a company like Swift Kick, but I will take everything I’ve learned with me wherever I go. So thanks for everything, Swift Kick! I’ll miss ya!
Note from Sabina – K8! Working with a fellow Ramily member was a dream come true. Thank you for your endless hard work and your ability to jump into things even though you’ve never tried them before. To hear you are proud of your work leaving this internship is a success for us! Can’t wait to see where you go next. 🙂
