It’s Almost Here!
After one year of waiting, we are only two days away from the International #FreeHugs Day! We currently have 79 schools pledging 55,936 hugs. With some schools pledging from as far away as Egypt, this truly is going to be an international day of hugging. But the day is much more than just about hugging, it’s about increasing the sense of community and connectedness with the surrounding people.
To make sure everything goes smoothly, here are some final logistics…
1) Free Hugs Sign – Here’s a link to our original #FreeHugs sign if needed for printing/copying.
2) Recording Hugs – After much testing, our team determined that an actual “smartphone” app wasn’t the best way to record hugs because not everyone will have a smartphone. Instead, you can record your hugs by either…
- Texting “NewHugs X SchoolName” to 66937 (example) or
- Emailing [email protected] with the subject “NewHugs X SchoolName” (example) where X=The # of hugs you are submitting and SchoolName=Your school name (or abbreviation).
3) Viewing Total Hugs – Throughout the day, you can find out the total global hug count by either…
- Texting “totalhugs” to 66937 or
- Emailing [email protected] with the subject “Total Hugs”.
4) Photo/Video Sharing – To share your photos with the rest of us, either…
- Post them directly yourself to the Swift Kick Facebook Wall > www.facebook.com/swiftkick or
- Email them to us at [email protected], and we’ll post them for you. If you email, just make sure to include your name and school, so we can tag you.
5) The Hashtag – Make sure to use the hashtag #FreeHugs for any Facebook/Twitter/Blog sharing you do so that everyone else around the world, who is participating, can find you.
Ok, that should be just about everything. Please TEST the texting and emailing ahead of time, so you are good to go. Don’t worry, we’ll reset the counter before Thursday. If you have any additional questions, reply to this email, and we’ll answer as fast as we can.
Here’s to a great day. We can’t wait to see all your smiling, hugging, faces!
