A few weeks ago, I wrote about my dog and how I learned some life lessons from him. This week, I have 5 more lessons to share with you! It is fun to learn from animals. They are so compassionate and lovable. How can you not want to learn from them?
Never give up
When it comes to animals, giving up is something that almost never happens. Grimm has taught me that no matter how many times I get frustrated or angry with him, he will always forgive me and keep trying to lick my face. He never gives up. He comes right back and tries to fix whatever he did wrong. When you feel like failing, don’t. Don’t give up on something you have worked so hard for. Keep going. Strive for your best and eventually, you will succeed.
Be weird!
This is an easy one! Grimm is one of the weirdest dogs I know. After he’s done running laps around the house, he decides to go over to the front window and lick it. Yes, my dog sits at the window and slobbers all over it. He doesn’t care who is watching. He just goes for it. It’s almost like there is a dog treat on the window, and he just has to find it. This, weirdly enough, shows that being weird is something fun! Who cares who is watching you? In fact, I wrote a post about being weird and stepping out of your comfort zone a few weeks ago. Grimm helps me understand that this is okay. Do what makes you feel good and have fun with it!
The simple things are the best things
This statement is so true. We do not need all of the crazy, expensive, go-out-of-your-way items. We need simple. To the right, you will find Grimm when he was just about two months old. He is playing with a simple rope that keeps him entertained for hours. And I mean hours! He could be playing tug-of-war, fetch, hide and seek, or just chew on this rope. Three years later, he has about 3 or 4 different ropes that he loves. He could also be using one of the 12 inch bully sticks that are available as a little treat and to help out his oral hygiene, but I know his ropes are his all-time favorite! It’s so amazing how the simple little things in life are some of the best. Next time you go out, or want to do something, try to make it simple and cost-efficient. You do not need to go on crazy or expensive adventures all of the time. Go to your local park and look around. Watch the trees blow in the wind, let your mind loose and explore your imagination! Be simple.
Watch where you sit or step!
With a puppy in the house, I have absolutely learned to watch where I sit or step. This animal thinks it’s so funny to leave his toys, and poop, wherever he wants to! Now that he is house trained, Grimm is much better at going outside, but sometimes mistakes happen. It’s not a big deal, especially since our friend told us about the best carpet shampooer for pets. This carpet cleaner is really helpful for when dogs have these accidents, or even for just removing any pet dander they may be leaving around your house. It doesn’t take too long to clean, so it’s not a problem! I think this lesson fits in with how humans like to rush around without looking first. Sometimes we tend to walk without looking. We could be staring at our phones or thinking of what is next on the agenda without knowing what we are doing. We tend to “look but not see”. Next time you are out and about, look around. Watch other people and see what they are doing. Look at the sidewalk or buildings and take in what they have to offer. It’s amazing what you can find in our world today. Not just the ugly, but the beauty as well.
Cuddle more
This is my favorite! I love cuddle time with my pup. Every night he comes down to my room and cuddles with me. Sometimes it is only for a few minutes, other times it is for the night. I will never take my cuddle time for granted when it comes to my Grimmers. Sometimes you don’t realize how nice it is to just sit back and relax with a dog or other animal by your side. For me, it is very relaxing to get away from the stress and anxiety life can throw around and just forget everything and cuddle with my pup. Cuddles are also a great way to help your furry friend to relax. Of course, if your dog needs a little extra help winding down, you can always use some cbd dog treats too. Ultimately, downtime is incredibly important for both of us!
I hope Grimm has helped you learn some life lessons. I know for a fact he helped me! Now, I challenge you to build your community by stepping out and applying some of these lessons to your life. I’m not saying go up and cuddle a stranger. But I am saying, go out and explore. Don’t huddle in your own personal bubble. See what the world has to offer you and what you have to offer to the world!
Until next time, have an amazing day!
