The Train Conductor on #TeamHuman

The Train Conductor
TARRYTOWN, TARRYTOWN! WATCH THE GAP AND DON’T FALL DOWN IN TARRYTOWN.
RING A DING DING, IT’S OSSINING!
A while back, on my personal blog, I wrote about Dr. Wachs, the dental surgeon who made it fun to get my wisdom teeth removed. After that, I realized a greater theme of doing your work excellently, no matter what it is.
Like Dr. Wachs, there’s a train conductor on the Hudson Line of the MetroNorth Railroad who puts that extra effort into a decidedly repetitive career. Don’t ask me why, but sometimes the conductors announce the stop instead of the automated system over the loudspeakers. Usually, it’s a terse announcement, sometimes unintelligible. But not this guy- he’s too busy making a often lonely and exhausting commute just a little better for everyone on his train.
With silly rhymes like the ones stated above, the kind that almost makes you groan at the cheesiness, he puts a smile on your face no matter how you try to fight it. How can you be mad when you hear your town rhymed with “ring a ding ding”?? How can you not look at the strangers around you to see if anyone else noticed this glorious remix of the same announcements we hear constantly all week?
Here is a person who takes pride in his work. Whether he does it to stay sane himself, or to make everyone happier, he is not willing to be boring just because his job requires repetition. He affects everyone he interacts with, and he knows it. This train conductor knows that #HumansNeedHumans. No matter what job you do, you have a responsibility to do it in a way that brings joy.
So, who do you interact with? Are you making their day or lulling them into robotic interactions with other humans?
