How do you define leadership?
In my opinion, leadership is the ability to service others and lead by example even when no one else is looking. A real leader is wise enough to accept the things they cannot change, and has enough courage to make a difference where they can. A leader knows when to lead, and when to follow. Being able to care for yourself before considering other obligations as a priority is crucial to being an effective leader.
What first inspired you to become a student leader/get your current position?
I am the type of person who supports and practices the motto “don’t just talk about it, be about it.” Complaints don’t make changes, actions do. I refuse to be the person sitting on the sideline watching time pass, when changes need to be made in the world. You never know how you can impact someone’s life for the better.
What is one experience (any kind) you think everyone should have?
Everyone should have the feeling of being loved. That extra reassurance that their existence does matter and other people can relate to their story.
What was your number one take-away from DFT?
All it takes is one person to start a movement, and every thing else is a domino effect. If you keep a positive attitude and can relate to others, people will listen and follow.
What is your go-to happy song?
My go-to happy song would be Ella me Mira by La Nueva Escuela. The up beat tempo makes me the happiest girl even on my worst days. I love to dance, and one good song in the morning will keep me with a positive attitude for the rest of the day.
