NACA Number One

Tom and I are sitting at our first NACA conference.  After a year at APCA, there are some differences for us.

The tough intro, for our mentality, was in the Associates Orientation meeting where we were told repeatedly “If you have a great idea for promotion, it is forbidden”.  The emphasis was always on “great” , as if “bad ideas” were okay – just not good ones.  We are both entrepreneurs, we pride ourselves on our ability to come up with new ideas.  Sure some of them will be bad, some will be good and we find out which is which by trying things.  NACA seems to actively discourage this approach.  Instead it is, do it the exact same way everyone else does.  Period.

We’ll see.

The conference has gone relatively well for our first.  The ed session was fun.  People enjoyed it and I think the content has legs.  It’s an original take on things, with some very useful new ideas for leverage.

There are lots of things we are excited to do differently and we have a pile more of these over the year to figure out an approach that is fun and works for what we need.

I’m really excited to kick up the ambassador program with a flashmob at an APCA conference.  For sure we’ll get some video of that one.
