With graduation mostly done and summer just beginning, new student orientation is not far off. That means a whole new crop of students are looking for what to do on campus. It’s the perfect time to ramp up new member recruitment efforts on Red Rover for your campus’ clubs and organizations. Here’s a look at what’s happening in the global Red Rover world to get you going.

Highlighting Student Organizations

When’s the last time you rocked The Robo Cop? The 80s Dance Zone Club at UW Madison makes it a regular occurrence, and they have pictures on their website to prove it. Student groups like the 80s Dance Zone are using WordPress as a free, easy-to-build website to discuss their club’s activities and events. Helping your campus’ clubs and orgs set up a website is a great marketing tool, just make sure they add a link to their group page on Red Rover, so students can find it.

Technology and Media on Campus

Technology changes are known to move faster than Usain Bolt. To help you keep up, here are the major stories about media and technology affecting college campuses:

Highlighting Student Leaders

Donny Jenkins is studying Biology at Georgia Highlands College. In an interview, Donny shares how Red Rover is changing the way students connect on his campus (click here** for the full interview):

Q: How do you personally use RR?

A: I constantly network with alumni because it’s so easy to find students who took the same class as me or were in the same club.

Q: What are some cool groups on your campus?

A: The coolest group on my campus is Highlands Interactive Production or HIP! We are the campus activity programming board for Georgia Highlands College. I got to attend my first conference at APCA (Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities) this semester.

Q: What campus interest tag surprised you in terms of uniqueness or # of students with the tag?

A: Diversity is the tag that surprised me the most. Sometimes it’s hard to imagine all the different backgrounds people are from. It influences decisions not only on a personal level, but on a community level. Diversity is one of the great strengths of a campus and a community.

The YouTube Savvy Class of 2014

The incoming Class of 2014 is proving to be the most media savvy class yet. When Maddie Gilje posted a video about waiting to hear back from NYU, she caught the attention of NYULocal.com**, a popular campus blog. Maddie became a YouTube star at NYU, and months before setting foot on campus, she was already connecting with other students. For your enjoyment, here’s the video of Maddie opening her acceptance letter to NYU’s Class of 2014:
